My name is Jen and I am Scottish. I am currently working in the American School of the Hague, Netherlands. If you ever fancy a trip to the Netherlands, feel free to get in touch for a tour of our campus and a taste of what it is like to work internationally. 

I have a BEd in Physical Education from Edinburgh University and a Masters of Arts in Education from Mighigan State University.

Work experience

I have now been teaching 11 years, and have experience within the context of Scottish, British and American educational systems. I taught in Scotland for 3 years before moving to Doha, Qatar where I worked at the Cambridge International School for Girls. I have also worked in the British International School Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates. 

I have worked at ASH for 5 years now, and as previously mentioned I teach Grade 9 Physical Education and Health. Our curriculum is primarily based on the American model, which is updated regularly to meet accreditation expectations. I am currently working to update the Grade 9 Physical Education and Health curriculum, looking at different ways to assess students in order to make a positive impact on teaching and learning. In addition I am PS-12 Coordinator of PE and Health, and currently taking part in a Middle Leadership Certificate. 

More about me

I have lived in the Western Isles of Scotland, the city of Edinburgh and my family are now based in the far North Eastern corner in a town called Fraserburgh. I am sporty and like to take part in a variety of activities. I enjoy biking to school, running and keeping fit. In addition, I like to cook especially as I have recently bought a house with my partner in the Hague that has a great kitchen! I believe I am an outgoing, energetic. person and I enjoy taking on new challenges both in school and out with work. It is important for me to spend time with close friends here in the Netherlands and when back in Scotland.
