Personal Profile

​I am a well organized, hard working person who enjoys working as a team and using my own initiative. My valuable experiences have allowed me to gain thorough understanding in both primary and secondary sectors. I am a committed, dependable member of staff within all aspects of school life and consider myself to be an enthusiastic, motivated teacher with a high standard.

My experience has allowed me to develop my classroom management skills, including behavior management within challenging contexts. I have a fun, outgoing personality contributing to the positive ethos and encouraging rapport within learning environments I create.

Physical Education and Health Teacher - Grade 9 and PS-12 PE Coordinator (Feb 2014 - present)
  • ​Within my current post I teach all grade 9 students PE and Health based on the National Association of Sport and Physical Education (NASPE) Standards. I assist Elementary, Middle and High school teachers to develop their curriculums and support the day to day running of the department.

Physical Education and Swimming Teacher
  • Delivery of Physical Education and Swimming lessons to pupils from FS1 to Year 10. During the past 2 years I have taught a variety of activities, and have been responsible for a tutor group and teaching PHSE to Year 8. I have helped organize ECA program, and fixtures/competitions within the schools house programme. This year I have also developed Schemes of Work, assessment procedures, supporting documents and valuable teaching resources to help establish the department within this new school. I have been involved in BISAD’s preparation for IB accreditation, including informal training and professional development.

Primary Teacher (Grade 2)
  • Delivery of the English National Curriculum to Grade 2 pupils (across all subject areas).  This experience allowed me to understand teaching in an International setting and gave me the opportunity to teach pupils of a younger age. To this end, my overall approach towards teaching has matured and I feel I am more knowledgeable as a result.

  • Building upon my experience within my previous post, I increased my experience across the age range gaining a more thorough understanding of the knowledge, concepts and skills required in line with implemented National Initiatives.  This included teaching strategies, classroom management techniques and assessment procedures.

  • Delivery of quality education to assigned pupils and contributed, within a collegiate ethos, to the professional life of the school. Provided quality learning and teaching and promote the attainment and achievement of all pupils.

Relief Leisure Attendant
  • Leisure attendant post which required me to ensure the health, safety and appropriate conduct of members of the public whilst in the Swimming Pool or Leisure & Recreation Facilities. Job included first aid, swimming teaching, and gym instruction.

Other Interests

  • ​Successful completion of Probation Year as a newly qualified teacher to a high standard in 2006/7 (087396F)
  • Active involvement in academic working groups and such as the Learning and Teaching Committee and  Curriculum Development Group whilst at Fraserburgh Academy and Turriff Academy, and Extra Curricular Activities Development Group at The British International School.
  • Led the planning and directed the organisation of regional Swimming Gala, involving 9 schools and approx 300 pupils within Aberdeenshire. Represented North Aberdeenshire in Scottish Schools Swimming Association, running trials for National competitions from 2006 to 2009.
  • Completion of the London Marathon in 2007, raising approx £4000 for CLIC Sargent.
  • Within my role as teacher advisor, raised over 12,000 euros for MSF charity organisation within past 3 years.
  • Successfully completed my first year, and now in my second as a Middle Leader in the position of PS-12 coordinator.
  • I regularly participate in a number of sporting activities, in particular running, swimming, fitness training, badminton and basketball.
  • I enjoy meeting new people and socializing with friends.
  • I love to cook and try out new, healthy recipes in the kitchen.
  • I enjoy travel, visiting new places around the world and experiencing different cultures.
