"Human" by the Killers Rewritten

Please see below my version of the Killers sone "Human" called "Born Creative, Divergent Learners". I rewrote this in line with the article
  • Henriksen, D., Mishra, P., & the Deep-Play research group (2014). Twisting knobs and connecting things: Rethinking Technology & Creativity in the 21st Century. Tech Trends, (58)1, P. 15-19
This was in order to explore some of the concepts within this article. Below the revised lyrics, is a YouTube clip of the original song for reference.

"Born Creative, Divergent learners"

Where do creative ideas come from,
When we really break it down,
To combine ideas and concepts
In unique ways we have found?

Connect and act upon them
In a meaningful way to you
Be one-off, bring knowledge
And your experience

Are we novel or are effective?
Unique and whole, Emerge ideas.
And we seek to define and find an answer
Born creative, or divergent learners?

They say it’s magical in nature,
Out of reach to you and I
Is this the sign of a true genius,
Or understanding for us to find?

So much for cognition,
It taught me everything I know
Lets reflect, incorporate,
Let creativity flow.

Are we novel or effective?
Unique and whole, Emerge ideas.
And we seek to define, and find an answer,
Born creative, or divergent learners?

Creating something new
Alter and combine ideas
there is no limit to our visions,
Creative thoughts, part of our wisdom.

Are we novel or effective?
Unique and whole, Emerge ideas.
And we seek to define, and find an answer,

Create possibilities.

Are we novel or effective?
Unique and whole, Emerge ideas.
And we seek to define, and find an answer,
Born creative, or divergent learners?

Unique pathways and lifelong students.

Born creative, or divergent learners?

Discussion
I have learned that making choices is very hard! It took me a very long time to chose a song and commit to the ideas I wanted to portray. With this in mind, I think it is important to view this end product as only a small part of the creative process. I used my existing knowledge and experience in a different way that made me look further than choosing obvious answers, or to create a solution that may be easier, but less effective.

The creative process involves reflection, and time to think is helpful to understand whether the work produced is as hoped. I believe it is important to pull together diverse ideas in order to make a whole product to be proud of. With this experience, I believe creativity can be nurtured through guided discovery of different learning styles, or activities that allow the student to experience something they cannot predict. Additionally, I like the concept of not following a straight and narrow path, as this leads us to taking calculated risks in our learning. By experiencing these possibilities, we can become more creative in our work, and outlook in many aspects of life.
